At the Retreat at Balcones Springs we have refined the art of relaxation and rejuvenation by bringing wellness-oriented activities to a blissful location. One of our favorite ways to do this is with our quarterly Women’s Wellness Weekend.
In early May, we welcomed twenty-four women to our beautiful 250-acre property in Texas Hill Country for a weekend of pampering and rejuvenating outdoor activities. Special events coordinator, Danielle Bryan hosted the ladies from start to finish ensuring a memorable weekend for all. As a certified personal trainer and health coach, Danielle has a passion for empowering women to be their most amazing selves.
Our guests ranged in ages from twenty-eight to fifty-eight – some coming as mother-daughter pairs, others as high school friends. Several ladies arrived solo but left the weekend with a host of new friends.
With gorgeous Texas spring weather, we were able to take advantage of sunny skies and perfect temperatures throughout the weekend. Our guests wined and dined with deliciously healthy food prepared by our award winning chef including traditional Texas cuisines, veggie fajitas, yogurt breakfast bars, craft salads, and plenty of dark chocolate! As an additional treat, we arranged a kombucha tasting from several local Austin ‘brewers’. Many of the ladies were unfamiliar with the incredible health benefits kombucha has to offer, not mention how delicious it is! Danielle chose a variety of flavors from a ‘Mild Ginger’ to a ‘Cayenne Cleanse’ as an introduction to this powerfully healthy treat.
The ladies sweated it out to outdoor yoga and Zumba classes led by fabulous instructors and later wound down with relaxing massages. Both novices and experienced equestrians hopped on our horses and went for a stroll around the property while others kayaked on Lake Ted. A few adventure seekers in the group even took a ride on our 903-foot zip line across the lake, getting a view of the property unlike any other.
With what extra time we had, the group was free to take advantage of our Tennis Courts, Sand Volleyball Courts, a covered and lit Basketball Pavilion, Baseball Diamond, Soccer/Football Field, 18-Hole Frisbee Golf Course, Fishing, Ping Pong, Tether-ball, Gaga Ball Pits, Canoes, Kayaks, and Paddleboards – all of which equipment is provided on-site.
In the evenings, the ladies retired to our refined, rustic cabins complete with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, private bathrooms and luxurious amenities.
We were sad to see this wonderful group go, after watching them enjoy such an empowering and enriching weekend, but we welcome all the ladies and many more to come back and enjoy our next Women’s Wellness Weekend this fall, November 11- 13. To reserve your spot, please visit www.texasretreat.com
